With 2020 being such a dismal year, we all welcome and are Inspired by good news. The Board of Directors and LINKS Network are pleased to report that our youth leaders continues to do great work in the Triad and beyond. We recently celebrated our five year anniversary and just launched the fourth season of our LINKS Mentoring Program with 22 girls! Most of the girls are located in the Triad area, but since the program is virtual this year, we have representation from five different states.
Recently, our youth LINKS Leaders participated in the Social Justice Town Hall Meeting hosted by Accountable Youth, Inc. Miss Alanna Thornton (pictured second from the left in the photo above) was selected as the youth moderator for that event. Miss Alanna Thornton represented the organization and her youth community so well during the discussion on social justice that Leadership LINKS, Inc was invited to moderate the second discussion on government. Youth LINKS Leader, Miss Ramiyah Summers of Jamestown, NC, participating in follow-up event with Greensboro, Mayor Nancy Vaughan. on October 14, 2020 at 6 PM.
Miss Ramiyah Summers was invited to be the guest moderator after submitting questions to the Chief of Police and the Mayor of Greensboro on the topic of voting. These were timely conversations during a historical election of 2020 demonstrating that the youth are listening and encouraging youth leaders to use their voices.
